UK & Ireland

Professional Development

To stay competitive and confidently sell cruises, it’s essential to take advantage of the wide range of training available through your CLIA UK & Ireland membership. From certification programs and destination courses to cruise line training, virtual sessions, and expert insights, there are countless ways to stay informed and grow your cruise knowledge.

Be Educated

Our travel agent support is targeted at those who are just starting their cruise journey, all the way through to those who are cruise experts, and everyone in-between. You may be focused on a particular sector, such as expedition or river, or you could be selling the whole range of options – either way, we can offer the right support as we work with over 50 cruise lines and river cruise operators who represent all types of cruising, from all sectors.

We do this by bringing as much information and resources together as possible, and we deliver that across a large number of platforms, so you can decide for yourself what support is most relevant to you, and how you want to make the most of your membership with us.

Certifications

Every individual can follow their own e-learning path and gain a cruise Certification with CLIA. There are three levels of certification available, to be completed in sequential order, beginning with an Introduction to Cruise Sales, progressing to Ambassador status and ultimately achieving the Master Certification, confirming your status as a true advocate of the cruise industry.

  • Accredited Certification (an Introduction to Cruise Sales)
  • Ambassador Certification
  • Master Certification

The content for these Certifications is available online through the CLIA Learning Academy, to be completed at your own pace within the year of beginning each level. The two higher Certifications additionally include some in-person requirements to visit ships and experience a cruise holiday, so these will need to be completed offline. Any associated costs of these elements is at the expense of the individual learner.

CLIA Cruise Champion Programmes

We host two ‘hybrid learning’ programmes for frontline agents - one focused on river cruise and the other on expedition cruise - for two cohorts of 35 agents who are new-to or have limited experience of the sectors, to join the six-month learning programmes.

They offer a mix of in-person, live virtual and webinar training, supplemented by self-study and monthly assessments – supported by the cruise line operators of that sector.

Self-Study: OnDemand Learning & Cruise Line Training

CLIA Members can access a great mix of video content, including interviews, panel discussions and recordings of CLIA’s virtual events via the OnDemand page. This library of video recordings allows you to watch back anything you may have missed.

We also offer a centralised listing of external training hosted by CLIA cruise lines and river cruise operators, providing you access to invaluable product knowledge.
