    With less than five months until the launch of MSC Cruises’ new flagship, MSC World America, the cruise line has shared a unique look into the ship’s construction. MSC World Americarepresents an important evolution for MSC Cruises’ successful World Class prototype - ushering in a new world of cruising with re-imagined venues and concepts to deliver the ultimate guest experience in the Caribbean, offering MSC Cruises’ signature elegant European design with North American comfort appealing to travellers who are seeking global adventures. MSC World America will be named in a glittering ceremony in Miami on April 9, 2025, and with less than five months to go, MSC Cruises is giving fans the chance to see the ship coming to life in new photos.     Carnival Cruise Line to mark USAs 250th anniversary
    Carnival Cruise Line has revealed it will celebrate America’s 250th anniversary in 2026 with a series of 10 special sailings. The cruises comprise a variety of itineraries ranging from three to eight days, sailing from six homeports: Miami, Port Canaveral, Jacksonville, New York City, Long Beach and San Francisco. On July 4, 2026, officially America’s 250th birthday, seven ships sailing from east coast homeports will meet near Celebration Key – the line’s new private destination in Grand Bahama - for a celebration at sea. From the east coast, Carnival Vista will depart on June 27 for an eight-day Eastern Caribbean cruise from Port Canaveral, calling at ports such as San Juan and St. Thomas; Carnival Celebration will operate a seven-day Eastern Caribbean cruise from Miami on June 28, visiting Celebration Key, Nassau, Amber Cove and Grand Turk; and on July 2 Carnival Sunrise will sail a four-day Bahamas cruise from Miami and Carnival Elation will sail to the Bahamas on a four-day cruise from Jacksonville. Additionally, Carnival Conquest and Carnival Glory will both depart on July 3, offering three-day cruises to Celebration Key, from Miami and Port Canaveral, respectively. Meanwhile, from the northeastern coast, Carnival Venezia will sail from New York on July 1, for an eight-day cruise visiting Celebration Key, Nassau and Half Moon Cay. West coast options comprise a five-day Mexican Riviera cruise from Long Beach, departing June 30, on Carnival Radiance and calling at Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada; a four-day option from San Francisco, departing July 2, on Carnival Luminosa; and a three-day Baja Mexico cruise from Long Beach, departing July 3, on Carnival Firenze. The three ships will meet at sea on July 4, near Ensenada, with each hosting anniversary deck parties, as well as themed entertainment and food and drink.     Holland America Line has announced it will once again host live cooking shows as part of its onboard culinary programme. The demonstrations will be hosted by a ship’s executive chef and cruise and travel director and will take place fleetwide, at least twice per seven-day sailing and more often on longer itineraries. They will focus on regional specialities and locally sourced seafood from the cruise line’s Global Fresh Fish Programme. Guests can learn cooking techniques and the culinary history of the region, with the opportunity to taste the dishes in the dining room that evening. Guests also will be able to take a copy of the recipes home post their cruise.     Azamara Cruises, the small ship cruise line and leader in Destination Immersion® experiences, is pleased to share that its dedicated UK contact centre, which opened in June 2024, is delivering exceptional results for agents and guests in the UK & Ireland. Since launch, the team have been providing market-specific support and tailored guidance, which has resulted in a substantial improvement in key call centre performance metrics, including a 67% increase in booking conversions (trade and consumer), as well as the following: 25% reduction in average handling time with agents resolving customer calls more efficiently, and less hold-time 40% improvement in the average speed of answer, with a reduction in wait times 17% drop in abandonment rates, reflecting the improved responsiveness and efficiency David Duff, Managing Director at Azamara Cruises UK (pictured above during a recent team visit to the contact centre), comments: “I’m delighted with the early success of the UK call centre, and want to thank all of the team for their fantastic efforts.     CLIA membership hits record high in Australasia
    November 18, 2024 – Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has reached a new membership high in Australasia, increasing its travel agent community by almost 20% during 2024. With 2025 memberships now open, CLIA is preparing for a packed program of educational events and training opportunities throughout the year ahead, equipping Australasian travel agents with the insight needed to succeed in an expanding cruise market. CLIA Managing Director in Australasia Joel Katz said travel agent memberships had reached a record 6,274 in 2024, an increase of almost 20% over the previous year and more than triple the level of 2022. “Cruising is thriving around the world and the demand for travel agent training is now stronger than it has ever been,” Mr Katz said. “The level of interest and dedication among travel agents is inspiring, and we want to support this further in 2025 through practical education, engaging events and other supporting benefits.” CLIA’s education program was honoured recently at Australia’s National Travel Industry Awards (NTIAs), receiving the award for ‘Most Outstanding Travel Industry Training Institution’. Travel agent involvement in CLIA training is also at record levels, with course completions this year up 84% over those of 2022. CLIA membership for 2025 is now open to new and existing members.
